Feast of the Black Nazarene
January 9th; Quiapo, Manila

Several devotees gather in Quiapo to celebrate the feast of the Black Nazarene, whose image was transported from Mexico to Manila in the 17th century

Referred to as the Philippine's version of Mardi Gras, it is an event where locals paint their bodies black and wore colorful costumes, as they dance and shout "Hala Bira!"

Sinulog
every 3rd weekend of January; Cebu City, Cebu

The feast of St. Niño, and is observed with a procession, a fluvial parade and lots of street dancing.

Dinagyang
every 4th weekend of January; Iloilo City, Iloilo

Another festival celebrated in honor of St. Niño initiated in 1969, which involves dancing, chanting all day and night.  It is held as thanksgiving for the blessings that the people have received.

Feast of our Lady of Candles

February 2; Jaro, Iloilo City

This festival, known as the most opulent religious ceremony in Western Visayas, honors the Nuestrar Señora de Candelaria with a procession of the town's beauties and the blessing of the hundreds of candles.
